Early Years – Come Along on the Journey (18th Months to 6 Years Old)

Multiple studies have show that learning language at a young age improves cognitive ability, that means that besides the obvious advantage of being able to pick up a foreign language faster when we learn as children, it also improves a child’s ability to process and understand information which will help with general learning in the future.

Our approach

We encourage parents to be an integral part of the learning process. Between the age of 18 moths to 3 years, parents can join our classes and have a first hand experience learning Spanish with your child. Through an interactive and immersive experience where play , story time and simple structured learning is conducted in Spanish, your child will take to Spanish like a native speaker.

The journey continues from 3 – 6 where learning is still kept fun but introduction of basic reading, writing and spoken components help augment informal learning. Your child enjoys the overall experience while at the same time parents are confident that our educators ensure progress is made with your child on their Spanish journey.

Our Spaces – We have created a safe and happy learning environment. Stimulating and inviting spaces to learn have been given the modern touch and through the five senses, children will be immersed into Spanish and will enjoy their learning.

Primary

Before the age of 12, a child’s ability to absorb and learn a new language is at it’s peak. Following on from our early years curriculum, our primary program extends the practical use of the Spanish language to their daily life. With a focus on pragmatic and real world skills, like carrying out a simple conversations, being able to read a book, or simply enjoying a Spanish cartoon, our primary school program is designed to grow with your child.

We know that some children and their parents will also be interested for their children to continue a more formal Spanish education. Our courses will incorporate some structured elements including formal grammar and assessment sessions to give the child a head start when they reach secondary school.

The appreciation of Spanish culture and the spontaneity of the Hispanic people are also not forgotten, to ensure that learning is kept fresh, fun activities like group games and drama sessions will also be included, just to make sure little ones do not get bored.

The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEF or CEFR) was put together by the Council of Europe as a way of standardising the levels of language exams in different regions. It is very widely used internationally and all important exams are mapped to the CEFR.

There are six levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2. These are described in the table below.

Level A1 – This is the beginner’s level for students eager to learn Spanish. A topic example in this course covers common greetings. After completing this level, you’ll be able to understand basic phrases and terms used in day-to-day situations.

Level A2 – This course covers basic knowledge of the Spanish language. Topic examples include personal information, employment and local geography. When you complete Level A2, you’ll be able to articulate yourself in basic Spanish.

Level B1 – This level is also referred to as pre-intermediate. A course topic to expect will cover regular life encounters particularly at work or school. After this course, you’ll be able to communicate effectively in varied situations, especially while travelling. You’ll also be able to air opinions and provide relevant explanations for them.

Level B2 – Also known as the intermediate level, this course deals with complex texts. A topic example here is technical discussion. When you learn Spanish to this level, you’ll be able to speak the language with fluency. In addition, you’ll be capable of writing detailed and concise texts.

Level C1 – This is the upper intermediate level. Topics are varied in this level. They consist professional, academic and social contexts. Graduates can write detailed texts using well-organised patterns.

Level C2 – This is advanced Spanish. A topic to expect when you learn Spanish to this level is the reconstruction of arguments coherently. At the end of Level C2, students can summarise complex info, express themselves fluently and distinguish meanings in complex settings.
